I don't know much about the history, but I do know it was made by Lyon and Healy in Chicago for a Michigan based chain of music stores who marketed guitars under their own'Wolverine' brand. Saying that, the neck joins at the 12th fret, so it's not really a guitar for solo noodling. The action's good for me, as I mostly play ragtime and blues things, but it is a little high at the 12th fret and the intonation suffers a bit up the neck, so you might want to think about a neck reset if you're going to be doing a lot of upper fret work. Other than that, the only obvious damage is a small split in the lower bout near the tail pin, but again this doesn't affect sound or playability. The headstock's broken off at some point in the distant past and been professionally repaired, but this doesn't affect playability. It weighs barely anything, and sounds tight and focused with picks or a plectrum and mellow if you just use skin. Straight braced, american oak body, and unusual metal saddle.
